There are many ways to get involved and make a difference in the lives of older adults in your community. Volunteer by helping with recreation programs or special events, leading organized programs and clubs, or by providing one-on-one visits with residents.

By volunteering, you will develop lasting relationships with seniors and will make a positive impact at the residence or home.

Interested in volunteering?
Applications are accepted year round.
- Download and complete the application form, including references.
- Choose a retirement residence or long term care home.
- Call the residence or home directly and speak to an Active Living staff member.
- If a suitable opportunity is available, attend an in-person interview at the home or residence.
- Complete the required documentation, volunteer orientation and training process.
- Prior to starting your volunteer placement, we will request that you complete a background check:
- You will need to obtain a criminal reference check and vulnerable sector check
- You may also be required to get a flu shot and complete a two-step test for tuberculosis
