Meet some of our people
“Working in Senior Living has really taught me the value of true community at work. I see many of the residents at Portsmouth just as much as I see my own family, and when you build relationships with individuals it gives your work a lot of meaning. I also wish people knew about the work/life balance aspect of working in senior living, which is hard to find in the hospitality industry.”
“I wish more people understood the true meaning of retirement living. It’s not about losing your independence and having others do everything for you. Retirement is about simplifying your life so you can enjoy it. I want my residents to focus on what makes them happy, instead of worrying about what they will make for dinner that night.”
“I enjoy when people express how they feel about the food that is made. The smiles on their faces after the work that is put into making the dishes. I enjoy well-presented meals, because you first eat with your eyes. Food is the base of all gatherings, and it brings people together.”
“My goal is to keep our residents interested and engaged with their physical capabilities and interests. I change activities monthly with different programs to keep them excited and learn new things. I also make sure that I listen to their requests and expectations to plan the programs that the majority will enjoy and that will encourage the greatest participation from residents.”
